All of us at Smoky Hill Veterinary Clinic know how special our pets are and the joy they bring to our lives each and every day. If you’d like to share the love of your life with others as the Pet of the Month, simply send a photo and a brief story (25 words or less) to petofthemonth@smkyhillvc.com. We will feature as many pets as possible.

Remembering Kat
Smoky Hill Veterinary Clinic’s Pet-of-the-Month is a cat that was, and always will be, very near and dear to our hearts. Kat was one of our favorite feline patients. The entire staff looked forward to those days when Kat, and her owner Fawn Thoms , would stop by for a visit. Since she knew her best, we’ll let Fawn tell you more about Kat.
Kat’s favorite toys were various sized/colored yarn pom-poms. She would imagine they were everything from mice, to soccer balls, to babies, to gifts to be dropped at my feet. She’d wait for the cuddle and kiss—and my thanks to her. Kat was the most intelligent animal I have ever known or was owned by. She cannot be replaced.

Kat’s very first visit to Smoky Hill was memorable because she wasn’t fearful or vocal like she’d been at other vet clinics in the past. She showed trust and seemed very comfortable and relaxed around the staff. Her last visit was when she was put to rest. Many thanks to all of you for your kindness and support during Kat’s illness and my time of sorrow since her death.  Words cannot express what it has meant to me. Kat and I were blessed with a unique and extraordinarily long and happy time spent together. We understood each other’s needs as though we spoke the same language.

My experience with Smoky Hill has been one of the best I have ever had. My own human doctors, as well as veterinary clinics in the past, have never given me the great customer service that Smoky Hill has provided. I think all Doctor’s offices and Veterinary offices should experience 15 minutes at Smoky Hill to know how to run a great business. Being that I am an elderly woman with medial conditions, the staff was always there to greet me in the parking lot and to assist Kat and me into the hospital. I am very appreciative of the Doctors’ and staff’s attentiveness and understanding during this difficult time.

Our thanks to Fawn for sharing Kat with all of us here at Smoky Hill Veterinary Clinic—she will be missed.
